The banks are still trying to recover their margins as we have just seen. I feel while these cuts are taking place (I suspect there will be a few more!), the banks will use this an opportunity to recover losses and improve profit. At a business level, I don't have too much of an issue with this as it will improve the share price and investor yield (from dividends) but I do believe they should strike the balance between profit and doing their part to stimulate our economy again by getting rates lower.

Rates are lower, but will the bank lend out cheap money? I doubt they will, looks like we are all in the long haul. Europes injuries are not going away in the near term either.

Thank you for your question. It certainly sounds to me that you have no issues accessing your Superannuation fund for the required proceeds. As you are retired AND over the age of 65, you meet a condition of release and therefore can access your funds. You are able to do this quite simply by contacting your Superannuation Fund provider and completing the appropriate form. Should you have any issues at all, please do not hesitate to contact an Adviser of Custom Wealth Solutions (CWS) as we are always happy to assist. Good luck with the move! - Chris Appleyard, CEO

Dear Sir

I am a 65 year old retiree who was born 19th Feb. 1947 and I am wondering i9f it is possible to access my super for a sum of money ($400). I have been allocated a unit by the Queensland Housing Dept and I need the money to move out of my present place to my future place. Is this a possibility?

Many Thanks

It is true that Japanese Banks view Australia as a fertile market for them as Australian mortgages are strong with great returns compared the low returns they earn in Japan.

I don’t think you will see rates as low as 1% as they are competing against local rates here of around 6.50%. They could offer rates in the low 5% range and still rake in a heap of business.

It would certainly provide a lot of competition against the Big 4….bring it on!

Hi Daniel, thank you for the question.

This is an interesting question, as technically speaking, you are able to purchase property via a Self Managed Superannuation Fund. There are obviously a number of considerations around this that you MUST speak with an adviser about as soon as possible. An important point to note here, is that if you do happen to purchase a property, you will not be able to live in this, as it must be for investment purposes only. Another consideration is that you are presently allowed to borrow for property, via Self Managed Superannuation, on specific occasions. Again, this is something you can discuss directly with us or your financial adviser.

Should you wish to discuss a Self Managed Superannuation Fund with Custom Wealth Solutions, please get in touch via the website or on 1300 001 CWS.

Thank you again for your enquiry, Chris Appleyard, Managing Director.
